Tamar was born in born in Kingston, Jamaica & raised in the mountains of St. Elizabeth Jamaica. Tamar’s early development was exposed to economical & emotional trauma. Raised by a resilient single mother, Tamar travelled to America at a young age and often looked back to her homeland. Tamar lived many places once she arrived in America such as NYC, VA, TN, KY, FL, Germany & CT. Her exposure to various living environments, experiences in traumatic adult situations & personal traumas, her huge heart and love for humanity, led her to want to help people heal what she thought was the sadness in their heart.From a young age she focused her intentions on learning all she could about how human beings develop; understanding emotions and the impacts of unhealthy emotions, and healing through; Awareness, Forgiveness, Acceptance, & Resiliency (A.F.A.R).Tamar began her work in therapy & healing with military families with the US Army overseas in Germany in 2004. A dedicated clinician, Tamar has achieved her goal of providing optimal treatment to her clientele when she opened Phoenix Professional Services in 2013. Phoenix Professional Services provides an array of Trauma focused mental health, community and holistic based services. Tamar also conducts humanitarian missions to countries where she provides essential requested needs, psychotherapy, groups & holistic healing to those struggling with the effects of trauma. Additionally, Ms. Tamar conducts workshops & events annually promoting holistic wellness and potential enhancement.Tamar is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Connecticut. She holds her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University Europe, and a B.A. in Psychology from University of Maryland Europe. She is trained and practices Eye Movement Desensitization Re-Processing Therapy and utilizes other innovative models such as Botanical (Horticultural) therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Tamar is also a Master Level Reiki Healer & Vibrational Medicine Practitioner. Tamar utilizes a series of holistic approaches in treatment complimentary & independently.She holds extensive experience in providing direct and administrative services to individuals, children, families as evidence by her strength-based outcomes with clientele on a state and federal level. Ms. Tamar is known to be a high-spirited welcoming individual who is passionate in her journey to awakening potential in everyone she meets. In her free time she likes to read, dance, play vibrational instruments, meditate, Yoga, hike, shoot, swim, ride horses, garden, nap, cook, and spend time with her family and friends.
