No prior experience is necessary! This workshop is perfect for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of country two-step. Our guest instructor, Russ Bradchulis, will break down the basic steps into easy-to-understand segments and give you a few fun, simple, repeatable patterns that are easy to practice and use on the social dance floor.

Here's a sneak peek at what you'll learn:

  • The Rhythm: Master the quick-quick-slow-slow rhythm that is the backbone of two-step.
  • The Footwork: Learn the leader and follower steps for smooth movement and connection with your partner. Russ will teach techniques to help you to glide across the floor.
  • Frame and Body Position: Understand how to maintain a proper frame for the best connection and create.
  • Turning Techniques: Learn basic turning maneuvers to navigate the dance floor with ease.

By the end of the workshop, you'll be able to:

  • Confidently execute the two-step pattern.
  • Dance comfortably with a partner.
  • Understand the fundamentals of leading and following.
  • Have a blast learning a new skill!

Social dancing will follow until 11 p.m.


Follows:
- turn technique to keep you balanced and stable in multiple turns
- tips on being able to follow any lead

Leads:
- calibrating your lead to different types of follows, so you can dance with anyone
- how to fix those "oops" moments and keep on going like you meant to do that

Partnership:
- key ways to being a patient, kind, and encouraging partner, whether you know the person or not
- ways to balance out the partnership, mainly when there's a skill difference

Frequently asked questions

Do I need dance experience?

No dance experience is necessary to participate in our workshop! We encourage people of all levels to come out and dance.

Do I need boots to participate?

No- boots are not required to dance with us. We do recommend wearing shoes that are easy to turn in. Socks are also acceptable since we are at a dance studio.

Will there be social dancing?

Yes, social dancing will follow the workshop and will include Two-step, Waltz, WCS, Country Swing and Line Dancing.
