About this event

Islander Youth Theater by CoSA Foundation in association with Playground Players Productions presents The Little Mermaid Jr. for children ages 6-16! Our program meets 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 beginning March 26th, 2024, and culminates in two performances on the stage at Coronado High School on Monday, June 10th and Tuesday, June 11th. All students MUST be able to attend both performances. No rehearsal will be scheduled during Spring Break (April 1-5). Rehearsals may be held at different locations and all information will be communicated to you before the first rehearsal via email. Please note that not all students will be called to each rehearsal based on our venue for that day. These reduced number rehearsals will be limited to no more than 4 rehearsals. Extra rehearsals will be held the week before the shows for dress rehearsals and are MANDATORY for all students involved. These extra rehearsals are as follows: 6/6 4-7pm, 6/7 4-7pm, and 6/8 9am-12pm. Attendance is critical for the overall success of this production, so you must commit to having your child at all rehearsals required, barring any family emergencies. Your child will learn all aspects of theater in this fun, interactive, and immersive program. Be sure to register soon before spots fill up!

* Limited scholarships available. Please contact admin@cosafoundation.org to check eligibility and availability. All other inquiries please direct to Laura Bueno at sdplaygroundplayers@gmail.com.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer refunds?

We will issue a refund (minus applicable fees) only before the first rehearsal. So, you'll have until March 25th to request a refund should you choose to pull your child from the production. After this date, no refunds will be given.

What if my child/family has a scheduled vacation during the rehearsal dates?

We allow 2 absences and they CANNOT be during our final two weeks. This is so that all involved in the production know exactly what they need to do onstage. Tech rehearsals and dress rehearsals are critical to the success of the show.

Can I stay and watch rehearsals?

No. While we know that parents love to be a part of the creative process, we find that children are more comfortable coming out of their shells and discovering new techniques without the pressure of a parent watching. We want to show you the final product at the performance!

How will you communicate the schedule and information to us?

All communication will be through email. Be sure to check daily for any possible location or scheduling updates! We will be using the email that you use to register, so please be sure that it is the best contact email for you. If you'd like to have another parent's email on our list, let us know!

Do parents need to volunteer?

Yes. We require parents to volunteer either through donating items for the raffles or concessions, or by donating their time and talents with sets, costumes, and props. A signup genius will be sent out after the start of rehearsals with these volunteer opportunities.
