About this event

CORRAL Riding Academy is a faith-motivated nonprofit that serves adolescent girls in high-risk situations through a long-term, holistic program of equine therapy and education. CORRAL equips each girl and her community with the skills, resources, and opportunities to gain access to a bright future.

At the event, you'll do hands-on projects to support the Neuse River campus and have the opportunity to learn more about CORRAL's mission and programs!

Address: 3120 Tarheel Clubhouse Rd., Raleigh, NC 27604

Important Note: We've found that new construction projects in the area are impacting some navigation apps when folks make their way to the farm. Be sure your route takes you to Old Milburnie Road. As a backup, you can enter Beaverdam Elementary School (on Tarheel Club Ln.) into your app. Once you pass the school, you'll come to a three-way intersection - turn onto Tarheel Clubhouse Ln. When you see Hidden Cove community entrance, turn right - you'll find CORRAL at the end of the road.

What to wear/bring: Please come dressed in closed-toe farm shoes/boots. We also encourage you to bring work gloves and a water bottle. Our work will be outdoors, so layers, long pants, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty are always a good choice.

Youth volunteering: We love having kids and families out on the farm! Youth ages 13 and under must be directly supervised by a caregiver or chaperone at all times. Youth older than 13 may volunteer more indepentently with a caregiver or chaperone on the property. Caregivers should register on behalf of their youth participants. Adult chaperones - don't forget to register as well! We are happy to sign off on community service sheets during or after the event.

Group volunteering: We love when folks bring their crew to CORRAL! If you're planning to volunteer as a group (5+ people with a shared organizational affiliation) please reach out to volunteer@corralriding.org so we can hook you up with your own registration link. If you're interested in scheduling a corporate / organization volunteer day outside of the monthly Saturday events we offer, let us know - we'd love to help!

Want to learn more about individual volunteer opportunities with CORRAL? Take our Volunteer 101 course for a closer look at our mission, programs, and volunteer roles at both farms.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I park / check in?

You are welcome to park anywhere along the fence line or road at the front of the farm. We have limited parking space, so please be mindful of space between cars! After you park, head to the yard in front of the program building (the little gray house in between the two front pastures) to check in.

What's the restroom situation?

We have a (pretty nice!) port-a-potty available - it has a toilet and foot-pump sink. We do not have wheelchair accessible bathrooms at this time.

I have some skills that may be helpful - how can I help?

Thank you! Reach out to volunteer@corralriding.org and let us know more about your skills and experience, and we'll see how we can factor your superpowers into our plans for the day.

I have some supplies / equipment I don't mind bringing - is that cool?

Super cool! You're welcome to bring equipment to the farm (especially weed eaters and mowers). If potential damage is a concern, it's best to leave it at home (we know accidents happen, but we aren't responsible for non-CORRAL stuff).

Can I bring my dog?

Thanks for asking! We're big animal lovers and love that you are, too. For safety, we do not allow pets on the farm, even if they're on a leash or in a car with the A/C on and their favorite music playing. Please tell your dog we said hi!
