The UCLA Latin American Institute is a vital regional, national, and international resource on Latin America. Since its founding in 1959, the LAI has equipped generations of leaders, professionals, and students with the information and skills required for understanding the vast and complex region of Latin America. The LAI supports research by funding grants and foreign-language instruction, and disseminates recent scholarship through conferences, workshops, public programs, teacher training, and publications.

About the film:
In this award winning LGBTQ coming of age from Brazil, Young Elias tries to balance his daily life between working in a garment factory and casual encounters with men. With the arrival of summer, Elias has been dreaming of the sea often, and his desire to turn off a bit intensifies. In the factory where he works, however, his responsibilities grow as the holiday season approaches. After another night working of overtime, Elias and his co-workers decide to go out together. As he tries to discern where his future might lead him, Elias learns to take pleasure in the small things in life.
