Join us for a morning of celebration, camaraderie, and empowerment as we come together to uphold our democratic values and forge a brighter future. Members can purchase tickets before opening sales up to non-members, so purchase your tickets before they are sold out!

Here are the event details:

Tickets: This year, the $45 brunch ticket price won't cover the full cost of the event. We kindly ask our members to consider purchasing a Friend of the Club Brunch Ticket for $60 or a Blue Wave Sponsorship for $150 to help defray costs and ensure the success of our gathering. All sponsors will be recognized at the brunch, so your support will not go unnoticed.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Carl Luna, Director, Institute for Civil Civic Engagement

Carl Luna is professor emeritus of political science at San Diego Mesa College and a visiting professor at the University of San Diego. In 2014, the Association of Community College Trustees recognized him as one of the country's 5 top community college professors. He is a frequent non-partisan commentator on politics, giving almost two thousand interviews to local, national, and international media, including public radio and TV, CBS, NBC, the Associated Press, and the BBC. He has written and blogged extensively for the San Diego Union-Tribune and San Diego City Beat Magazine and is a contributing author to the presidential anthologies of Public Pillars, Private Lives and Imperial Presidents: The Rise of Executive Power from Roosevelt to Obama.

Dr. Luna is co-chair of Restoring Respect, a community initiative promoting greater civility in San Diego, supported by a consortium of academic institutions and community groups. In 2014, he became the first director of the Institute for Civil Civic Engagement, formed between USD and the San Diego Community College District’s City, Continuing Education, Mesa, and Miramar Colleges. In 2022, Dr. Luna and ICCE joined the USD Violence, Inequality, and Power lab to conduct the first-of-its-kind in-depth survey to measure the severity and impact of political threats directed at locally elected officials in San Diego.
