In 2010 Jon Underwood decided to develop a series of projects about death one of which was to focus on talking about death.

In Septermber 2011 the first Death Cafe was facilitated by Jon and his mum, a pychotherapist Sue Barsky Reid. Since this first, Death Cafes have spread around the world

Death Cafe's offer the opportunity to meet in a confidential, safe and caring environment to discuss living, death and dying. Thoughts, feelings and experiences are all relevant. All people are welcome. The Death Cafe model, followed all over the world, is always free with no pre-formulated agenda. No planned questions, themes or wish to steer anyone in a particular direction. This is not a counseling or grief support group. Although grief may be discussed. Many report Death Cafe participation has reduced their anxiety about death and dying (their own or their loved ones') and can enhance the way we live in the present. Most people leave a Death Cafe feeling connected and uplifted.

Death Cafes are always free. Death Cafe welcomes your donations. https://www.patreon.com/deathcafe
