Book Arts explores the making of books as an artistic craft; Each workshop is designed as an educational experience with a hands-on, creative component for students to practice and learn.

The Coptic binding is an historical binding that hails from the European 8th century onward!This binding pairs 8 signatures of folded sturdy paper with decorative cover papers over a hard cover for a strong and portable book. You can choose either watercolor or lighter-weight writing papers; I have a variety of cover papers from which you can choose, and coordinating waxed linen threads.We stitch our books with attention to detail and careful planning. You will learn how to develop a rhythm of stitching so that you can carry on independently once it is made. You will go home with a beautiful book and directions so that you can create it again!$25 Materials fee paid to instructor.
