Southwest Virginia Ballet (SVB) strives to bring quality pre-professional dance through artistic instructional , and performance excellence providing opportunities to our youth and community and achieving regional, national and international recognition.  In  our 30 year history, SVB's distinguishing characteristics continue to include instruction, free membership,  free costumes and open participation with many of the regions dance schools represented in company membership.  Many SVB alumni continue to dance , choreograph, and teach around the world.  Others are leaders in areas of arts, science, engineering and business.  This program for young dancers instills the discipline , teamwork, and dedication necessary to be successful in all aspects of life and fields of study ad work.  Southwest Virginia Ballet has been contributing to Virginia's Blue Ridge for 30 years, serving over 15,000 children and adults annually.For 29 years, SVB has performed The Nutcracker at the Berglund Performing Arts Theatre, bringing thousands of patrons the gift of joy and magic.  It is Virginia's Blue Ridge Holiday tradition!

Southwest Virginia Ballet's present Coppelia for FREE  May 22, 2021 at 2pm and 7pm at Elmwood Park Amphitheatre.  This is a ticketed event.

<p>Coppelia, a comedic ballet set in a European village in the late 1800’s is a story told through dance about a beautiful young girl, Swanilda; her fiancé, Franz; the mysterious doll-maker,     Dr. Coppelius; and his life-sized, dancing doll, Coppelia.  With a cast of 50, beautiful costumes and sets, professionally trained dancers, and lighthearted comedy, Coppelia is sure hit for children of all ages! </p>
