Find your people, Find your practice. We are a place where community and contemplation meet. No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region, and online through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. If you are opposed to sharing your lovely face, let us know and we'll do our best to avoid that. But, by using an event ticket you agree to let The Hive share your image in photo, audio, and video form. Facilitated by Troy Bronsink. This is a 6 week class.
The ancient practice of table, the craft of food, the mindfulness of taste, and the ease of spirits all stirred into one. This is a light summer small-group for building friendships with neighbors to discuss life, its unfolding, its hope, and to come away learning how to be your own amateur mixologist. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody… (you get the idea).
How’s it work?
Picture meeting with neighbors, noshing on a few craft snacks, sipping on a craft cocktail, while learning how to make said cocktail. Then imagine facilitated Hive conversations such as: What is possible in my life? What is my relationships with food and drink? What is my relationship with the land where these spirits come from? What is bitter, sweet, and flavorful about my past? How might our habits around sharing food and drink shape the common good? —its sorta like summer camp for grownups.
We’ll learn to make 6 drinks. In addition, we’ll get practice making simple syrup, shrub, and bitters. In the end you’ll come away with some friends, some skills, and two 5oz homemade bottles of bitters (the Hive will build a collection, as well).  No experience necessary, but bring your own bar-ware (we can get you a list if you’re brand new).
All that without waking up with a hangover. We’ll keep the pours reasonable and have plenty of water available, after all it may be summer camp, but Wednesday night is a work night for most of us. 
More Details: As a center committed to life transformation, knowing many people find this through 12 steps recovery, we want to acknowledge that this class will include alcohol and moderate drinking. We are not a bar and do not sell alcohol, so in addition to the usual Hive class fees, participants will receive a grocery list in advance and need to agree to buy an additional $75 in spirits, ingredients, and garnishing over the six weeks (you’re on your own for shaker, jigger, and stirring spoon). In the end everyone will get a cocktail (or two) a night, and come home with two 5oz bottles of home made bitters.
About Troy: In addition to being founder of the Hive, a dad, a community facilitator, a spiritual director, and minister, Troy has been mixing cocktails—asking nosy questions of bartenders around the US—for quite some time. If you’ve ever made it to a Hive Happy Hour, you’ve tasted his wares. While growing up in a teetotaling family, Troy’s found a way for spirits to bring richness to the experience of fellowship. In an effort to transcend and include, this class is a way for Troy to keep bringing different worlds together.
