Explore bark crafts and make your own traditional style "bark bucket". Bark buckets are used in several ways: as backpacks, berry-picking containers, baskets, and water bottle holders. Learn about which trees are best used for bark buckets and learn how and when to peel bark. This is a great traditional craft that you can easily learn and share with friends and family. 
<H3>About the Instructor</H3>
Alex Kilgore has been learning and teaching primitive and traditional living skills since 1995. He began with a formative apprenticeship with Steve Watts, the founder of the Society of Primitive Technology and director of the Aboriginal Studies Program at the Schiele Museum of Natural History. In 1997, Alex completed his degree in Outdoor Experiential Education at Appalachian State University. For the last 20 years, he has worked and taught at Earthcamp, Earthskills Rendezvous, Mountain Quest and LEAF Festival, Wild Abundance, as well as in public and private schools. Alex lives in a straw-bale house that he built on his off-the-grid homestead in the Amphibolite Mountains of Northwestern North Carolina. He prides himself on continually learning and improving upon his skills in order to practice a more sustainable, self-sufficient lifestyle.
