The DEC- Downtown Event Center hosts events in historic Downtown Idaho Falls.  The DEC hosts public events such as live comedy and music and private events such as weddings, corporate parties, and nonprofit events.

Join Dr. David Adler, a renowned constitutional scholar, for ‘Constitutional Conversations’ on the third Wednesday of each month.

<p>The event features a 45-minute lecture by Dr. Adler, followed by an interactive 45-minute Q&amp;A segment. Admission is $15, with complimentary access for teachers and students. The public is cordially invited to join this vital discussion on a topic that could significantly reshape the principles of American governance. </p><p> Dr. David Adler, constitutional scholar and president of The Alturas Institute, explores the implications for American democracy and the rule of law of “Project 2025,” Donald Trump’s blueprint for a second presidential term. The plan, as set forth in “Project 2025,”provides the foundations for Trump 2.0, includes a vast expansion of presidential power, elimination of the civil service in favor of a spoils system that would install Trump loyalists in positions of power, a rollback of civil rights and civil liberties, role for there American military to suppress protests, presidential assumption of authority over the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission, abolition of the 22nd Amendment, and actions that would dismantle the Department of Justice, Department of Education and the FBI. Adler analyzes the impact of these fundamental changes in our constitutional system, particularly their centralization of governing authority in the presidency and their consequences for our democracy.</p>
