Celebrating the final Ratification of the US Constitution on March 5, 1789
The Congress of the Confederation certified eleven states to begin the new government, and called the states to hold elections to begin operation. It then dissolved itself on March 4, 1789, the day the first session of the Congress of the United States began. George Washington was inaugurated as President two months later.

Michigan Chief Justice Robert P. Young, Jr. (Ret)
Young was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Young has recounted how he was raised in a city that was operating under de facto segregation at the time; when he was a child, his family was one of the first to integrate northwest Detroit.<A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_P._Young_Jr.#cite_note-commentary-5" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></A> He attended Detroit public elementary schools and graduated from Detroit Country Day School in 1970, with honors from Harvard College in 1974, and from Harvard Law School in 1977.
In 1978, Young joined the law firm of Dickinson Wright, where he became a partner in 1982. In 1992, he joined AAA Michigan where he served as general counsel. In 1995, Young was appointed to the Michigan Court of Appeals, and later elevated to the Michigan Supreme Court by Governor John Engler in 1999
Young is an adjunct professor at Michigan State University College of Law. Known for his community involvement in the greater Detroit area, Young currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Vista Maria, a Detroit-based charity for disadvantaged young women. He has previously served as a member of the Advisory Board of the United Community Services of Metropolitan Detroit and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Central Michigan University.
Young was named the Jurist of the Year by the Police Officer's Association of Michigan in 2000 and again in 2010.
Young was named the American Justice Partnership's "Guardian of Justice" in 2010. The group explained that Young is a "tireless protector of the U.S. Constitution, strong and steady defender of our nation's principles of justice, and unstinting adherent to the intentions and ideals of our nation's founders."
Young was elected Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court on January 5, 2011.
Young, was on Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's list of potential Supreme Court justices in May 2016, though the appointment went to Judge Neil Gorsuch on April 7, 2017.<A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_P._Young_Jr.#cite_note-15" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> </A>

Michigan State Senator Patrick Colbeck, 7th District
Colbeck is a graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School. He later graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering for Aerospace in 1987 and a Masters of Science in Engineering for Aerospace in 1988. He went on to study Life Sciences for a summer at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France. 
Employed by Boeing as a Senior Design Engineer responsible for components of the Environmental Control and Life Support System and Quest Airlock module for International Space Station. He later provided contract systems engineering services to the Department of Defense for work on advanced simulation system for training military forces. He then served as a Management Consultant and President of Perspective Shifts, LLC. He launched Tek Made Easy in 2007 to provide SharePoint-based web services for clients. In 2006, he published the book Information Technology Roadmap for Professional Service Firms.<A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Colbeck#cite_note-4" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> </A>

On May 31, 2017 Senator Colbeck filed to run for Michigan Governor <A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Colbeck#cite_note-8" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></A>to replace current Republican Governor Rick Snyder, whose second and final term will expire in January 2019.<A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Colbeck#cite_note-9" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> </A>

Michigan Speaker of the House, Tom Leonard
Member of the Michigan House of Representatives and currently serves as Speaker of the House. In January 2017, he was formally elected Speaker of the House by a unanimous bipartisan vote of the entire Michigan House of Representatives.<A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Leonard_(Michigan_politician)#cite_note-2" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> </A>
Receiving his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law and was the Graduating Class President. He also received the Ralph M. Freeman Scholarship, which is annually awarded to the student that most exemplifies the Rules of Professional Conduct by treating others with courtesy and respect. He also earned his Bachelor’s degree in History and Spanish from the University of Michigan.
Prior to elected office, Speaker Leonard focused his career on the law and law enforcement. He first served in the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office under longtime Democrat prosecutor David Leyton. While there, he prosecuted some of Michigan's most dangerous criminals while assigned to the Special Crimes Division in Flint.<A HREF="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Leonard_(Michigan_politician)#cite_note-officialsite2-3" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> </A>
Later, becaming an assistant attorney general for the State of Michigan and defended Michigan taxpayers from frivolous lawsuits.
Tom and his wife Jenell live in DeWitt Charter Township with their daughter, Hannah.
Speaker Leonard is currently running for Attorney General of Michigan to replace current Attorney General, Bill Schuette whose second and final term will expire in January 2019.
