Each meeting will be different, but we’ll do things like silent writing sprints, read-aloud and feedback, mini lessons, etc.

How will I know where to find this group once I arrive at the coffee shop?

Is there a cost to attend?

No, it does not cost anything to be a part of this club.

Do I have to share my writing?

Accepted Answer

Sharing your writing is always optional. No one will be forced to share their writing. This option is for whoever wants to do so.

How much writing should I bring?

If you want feedback for something you’re working on, bring no more than one single-spaced page, as we’ll need enough time for everyone to share and receive feedback.

Are we critiquing craft, message, or both?

Accepted Answer

We’ll be critiquing craft, not message. Each author is entitled to write the message they are passionate about without fear of being condemned or ostracized.

How do you handle differences in theology or politics?

We won’t all agree on everything. Differences of opinion are welcome.

Is confidentiality expected for shared work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Although we can’t guarantee confidentiality, as we can’t control and monitor what each club member does, confidentiality is a rule  of this club and is expected to be followed. That said, authors that share their work do so at their own risk.

Will we study published Christian or conservative authors?

We won’t do this in every meeting, but we might in some of our meetings.

How do you handle dark or difficult subject matter?

We allow almost every genre to be read aloud, with some exceptions. Erotica and horror genres are prohibited from being read aloud. As a Christian club, we consider these genres to be offensive to the Christian faith.

All kinds of fiction writing is welcome. You don’t necessarily have to have a Christian or conservative message, in order to share and receive feedback.
