Throughout the year, we teach poetry in schools, host a month-long festival, and publish poems in books and unexpected places like rooftops, billboards, and fences using a process called Civic Publishing. Our work is an act of love for this city, inviting residents to share their stories and write a new one together. Conjuring Spirits is back for a Halloween edition! Join us for a ghost tour of the Stone House and secret wine cellar, an ekphrastic poetry workshop led by Caridad Moro-Gronlier, wine, bites (food not vampire), and a chilling photo op courtesy of Liquid Death. Costumes encouraged!Each ticket includes:<ul><li> An evening ghost tour of the Deering Estate&#x27;s wine cellar &amp; Stone House</li><li> A guided poetry workshop led by award-winning Poet Caridad Moro-Gronlier</li><li> A wine-tasting of specialty curated spirits</li><li> Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages &amp; a spooky photo station provided by our friends at <a href="https://liquiddeath.com/collections/beverages" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Liquid Death</a></li><li> Access to the <a href="https://deeringestate.org/event/moon-viewing/2023-10-27/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Deering&#x27;s Full Moon Viewing overlooking the bay</a></li></ul>Poet Caridad Moro-Gronlier leads participants through ekphrastic poetry by generating new work inspired by and in conversation with the “spirits” that exist at The Deering Estate—both spectral and alcoholic. The estate provides participants with the opportunity to explore the property from a historical, cultural, environmental, and personal perspective. Caridad Moro-Gronlier is the author of Tortillera (TRP 2021) and Visionware (Finishing Line Press 2009).
