CONIFERS, Part 2: Cypress Family – This is #11 of 12 in a series of genus-specific tree tours sponsored by The Dendro Lab in Central Park

To learn more about The Dendro Lab and see our full schedule, please visit: http://dendrolab.nyc

In the northern hemisphere, all conifers, or cone bearing trees, fall into one of two families. In Conifers, Part I we cover all those coniferous trees that are members of the pine family. In Conifers, Part II we explore and learn to identifiy members of the cypress family. You likely have already heard of several, such as juniper (never to be called "cedar" again), bald cypress, and the now famous dawn redwood.

Please note: Meeting spot is across the street from the American Museum of Natural History at the bronze bust of Alexander Von Humboldt at CPW and West 77th Street This entrance to the park is aptly called "Naturalists' Gate."
