A Local Church Approach to Developing Disciples on Mission

It’s disciples.” (Neil Cole, Ordinary Hero)Yet, local churches struggle to formulate an approach to helping their members grow to look like Jesus and engage in God&#x27;s mission.What if you could help people grow in their faith, connect deeper to your congregation, and identify who God is calling them to serve in the broader community?With Congregation-Based Discipleship, you&#x27;ll discover how normal, local churches can go beyond signing up volunteers for ministries to raising up disciples engaged in meaningful mission.

<h2>Details:</h2>ALL TIMES = 7PM-9PM for every session in the FALL (Session 1) and SPRING (Session 2)(Yes, this is late. That is on purpose. And yes it is a commitment. But this allows folks who work during the day to join. It also allows most people who have sports/music practice to still participate. Clarify and understand the characteristics that make someone a mature disciple. November 16 = Session 5: What does it mean to be a multiplying disciple?Learn how Jesus developed multiplying disciples and explore ways we can become multiplying disciples for God’s holy kingdom. Matt Lake serves as the Lead Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport, PA—an urban congregation that consists of a mix of traditional and contemporary worship experiences. First Church also currently hosts a network of fresh expressions of ministry called the Acts Network in which people meet in places such as homes, gyms, and coffee shops. Matt is a graduate of Messiah College has an Master in Divinity from Duke Divinity School. Matt is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry focusing on Semiotics and Future Studies through Portland Seminary. Matt has worked with a variety of churches in a consultant role and has a passion to see God’s Kingdom impacted through lives transformed in the love of Jesus Christ. Matt is deeply in love with his beautiful wife Jennifer and is doing his best to keep up with his three amazing teenagers—Alexandra, Joshua, and Zach.
