Congaree Eclipse Hike - Phillip's Tract

Astonishing biodiversity exists in Congaree National Park, the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southeastern United States.  Waters from the Congaree and Wateree Rivers sweep through the floodplain, carrying nutrients and sediments that nourish and rejuvenate this ecosystem and support the growth of national and state champion trees.

Join a volunteer park naturalist for a short hike into the Phillip's Tract for a once in a lifetime view of the Great American Eclipse 2017! This easy hike will allow participants open views of the sky as the moon slowly begins to cover the sun, turning say into night. On this hike, you may hear owls and have the opportunity to see other nocturnal creatures come out in the middle of the day!

Distance: 1.0 miles roundtrip  Difficulty: Easy (not recommended for children under 12) Participants: 15 Maximum Start Time: 1:00pm
Getting to Tour Start Location
The Phillip's Tract Trailhead is located on the eastern side of the park off of US Route 601. Detailed maps with directions will be emailed to participants once they have made their reservations.
