Congaree Eclipse Hike - Bate's Ferry Trail

Astonishing biodiversity exists in Congaree National Park, the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southeastern United States.  Waters from the Congaree and Wateree Rivers sweep through the floodplain, carrying nutrients and sediments that nourish and rejuvenate this ecosystem and support the growth of national and state champion trees.

Join a park ranger for a hike along the Bate's Ferry Trail to the Congaree River for a once in a lifetime view of the Great American Eclipse 2017! This hike will follow an old ferry road that leads to what was once a crossing point of the Congaree River. This hike will take you past stands of ancient cypress trees as the sky begins to dim and day slowly turns to night!
Hike Information 
Distance: 2.5 miles roundtrip  Difficulty: Moderate (not recommened for children under 12) Participants: 40 Maximum Start Time: 12:30pm at Bate's Ferry Trailhead 
Getting to Tour Start Location
The Bate's Ferry Trailhead is located on the eastern side of the park off of US Route 601. Detailed maps with directions will be emailed to participants once they have made their reservations.
