Learn the cutting edge practice of Narrative Mediation and to apply it in dissolving conflict in all contexts.

This 60 minute interactive workshop will examine how conflict management and/or conflict resolution is now considered an important part of any leader’s role, sometimes taking more than 25% of their time (Overton &amp; Lowry, 2013). As a result, leaders of the future need conflict mediation skills (Winslade &amp; Pangborn, 2015), if they are to effectively manage organizations, make decisions, and lead more effectively in the ever-increasing team environment in today’s business climate. This workshop on the conflict coaching process and narrative mediation will demonstrate to leaders how conflict in the workplace can be dissolved through the cutting-edge process of narrative meditation (Winslade &amp; Monk, 2000). One CAMFT Approved CEU will be available for participation. Educational Goals:Some aspects of the narrative mediation process that will be covered include:•	How the effects of the problem/conflict are mapped and storied.•	How descriptions of a preferred future are explored.•	Preconceived notions about the problem that led to conflict are identified.•	Examine how larger organizational contexts fix people in a particular way of relating, and how patterns are made visible.•	Deconstructing of cultural prescriptions and dominant discourses in organizations that are influential.•	Strategies for storying the future for preferred outcomes.Learning Objectives1. By the end of this program, participants will be able to apply three practices in negotiation and mediation in efforts to resolve conflicts.2. By the end of this program, participants will be able to identify two key practical and theoretical concepts of managing and resolving conflicts.3. By the end of this program, participants will be able to apply three theoretical and practical components of narrative mediation.Presenter background Chris Hoff, PhD, LMFT is the founder of Hoff Consulting Group, a management consulting firm and leading advisor on leadership development, mental health and conflict resolution within organizations and teams. Chris also is a former Ernst &amp; Young Entrepreneur of the Year/Orange County Finalist and has received the Excellence in Entrepreneurship award from the Orange County Business Journal two times. Chris has presented across the country on the topics of conflict resolution, conflict coaching, and social entrepreneurship. Chris also serves as Director of the California Family Institute.
