About this Event

Effective teams are more productive, healthy, and, not to mention, fun! How do we celebrate our differences and maximize our talents, while staying committed to the work and results our mission requires?

All teams go through cycles of growth and change, and all teams deal with conflict. In this interactive session, participants will explore the dynamic stages of team development, learn how they may lead to conflict, and practice techniques and tools for healthy communication.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Effectively lead your team through all phases of team development—from disharmony to productivity.
  • Apply practical tools and a roadmap for navigating difficult conversations.

In the session you will:

  • Create Common Language for individual differences and conflict
  • Build Emotional Intelligence through empathy and self-awareness
  • Understand and apply tools for Healthy Interactions
  • Enhance teamwork through an understanding of Team Dynamics

Who should attend?

The course is specifically designed for nonprofit teams (2-4 participants per organization). The ideal team is a group of people who work together on a regular basis and are committed to increasing their team’s effectiveness. In addition, managers looking to improve the success of their individual teams and support each other in this growth process are encouraged to attend.

The fee for the course includes:

  • One day interactive training, team discussion and real-time coaching
  • Registration for up to 4 participants for your organization
  • A take-away workbook for your use in future progress on the issue
  • A healthy lunch, as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day, to keep you energized

FACILITATORS

Katie Popp, Senior Consultant, Learning & Leadership, Mission Capital

Katie is an expert in workplace culture with a passion for building effective, engaging and fun organizations that people want to be a part of. In her work at Mission Capital, she provides strategic and consulting support in the areas of education, leadership training and talent management.

Prior to joining Mission Capital, Katie spent 12 years with Great Place to Work Institute, most recently directing the firm’s Best Companies Lists program, including responsibility for the evaluation and selection of Fortune Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. She also served as the Development Associate at Habitat for Humanity San Francisco. Katie enjoys applying her knowledge of corporate workplace best practices to the nonprofit sector.

Katie holds a BA in Psychology from Southwestern University and a MA in Organization Development from St. Edwards University.

Robin LLewellyn, Learning and Leadership Manager, Mission Capital

Robin is an experienced talent development and human resources professional with a background in leadership development and employee training. Previously, Robin owned and operated RLL Consulting, a talent development and management consulting firm. She also served as a Senior Director of Talent and Development at Goodwill Central Texas. Robin holds a BFA from the University of Texas and an MFA from Florida State University. She utilizes her theater arts background to facilitate interactive trainings, focusing on learning through "play." Robin holds a Certification in Professional Learning and Performance (CPLP) and has her SHRM-CP and PHR as a human resources professional.

Robin resides in Cedar Park, Texas where her son and daughter-in-law allow her to be the best playmate to their amazing son, Jax. In her spare time, she enjoys creating art by up-cycling glass and plastic.

Accommodations

Mission Capital has a strong commitment to making our services accessible to individuals with special needs and disabilities. Two weeks’ notice will allow us to provide seamless access.

Refunds

All cancellation and refund requests must be received in writing no later than two weeks prior to the Learning & Leadership offering. No refunds will be processed within 2 weeks of the event date. You may also transfer a registration to another staff member, board member, or volunteer with the approval of Mission Capital. All transfer requests must be received in writing no later than one week prior to the event date. Note: all refunds are subject to a $50 administrative fee that will be deducted from the amount originally paid.
