About this event

  • 2 hours

Exhibiting artist and band member Lisa Alvarado, brings the Natural Information Society to the Moody! Led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Abrams, this musical response to the current exhibition Resonant Earth is the latest event in the Moody's signature series, Dimensions Variable.

About the Band:

"...it’s patient, layered music that’s always heading somewhere, sometimes spare and sometimes complex and shimmering"

-Ben Ratliff, New York Times

Natural Information Society (NIS) music is grounded in Abrams’ hypnotic & interwoven writing. Performing with Lisa Alvarado’s free-hanging paintings as mobile sets, NIS creates meditative environments. NIS navigates forms that emphasize simultaneous differences, rhythm, and collective listening. The group has released six records, including descension (Out of Our Constrictions) 2021, for eremite records.
