What started out as a toolset primarily employed by Architects a decade ago, visual programing tools have become pervasive in the AEC industry. Through case studies of various high profile projects around the globe, Joseph Provenza will demonstrate ways in which WSP is leveraging computational design tools in day to day practice for the optimization, automation and design of large scale projects. More interesting perhaps will be tracing the evolution from a sparsely utilized toolset reserved for addressing complex forms to one which has become fully embedded within day to day engineering practice through the efforts of WSP’s Global Computational Design Group, WSPnext. 
 
Joseph Provenza AIA, PE, LEED AP BD+C is a Project Manager at WSP trained and licensed in both Architecture and Engineering. He is currently overseeing 3 million square feet of high profile projects at various stages of design and construction in New York City and leads WSP’s Global Computational Design Group, WSPnext. His 11 year tenure with WSP, a multinational engineering consultancy,  has been split amongst offices in NY, LA, SF and New Delhi.
