In our Computational Design Immersive, you’ll develop an innovative prototype using Mode Lab’s field-tested framework of computational tools and methods. Over five days, you’ll dive deep into algorithm design and development using visual programming tools that enable data-driven product creation. You’ll also learn how to generate, iterate, and evaluate concepts utilizing a mix of divergent and convergent thinking techniques. At the end of this Immersive, you’ll have the skills to break down complex challenges into smaller, more manageable parts and use computational design to develop a creative solution.

You’ll take away the following:

• Understand which aspects of a design challenge are amenable to computation.

• Break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable parts.

• Apply computational strategies to creatively generate and iterate concepts.

• Use visual programs to make connections between data and product performance.

• Prototype and evaluate a concept using additive manufacturing tools like 3D printing.

Creative directors, engineers, software developers, and design practitioners who are interested in using data, algorithms, and a streamlined process to tackle complex product development challenges. Prior experience in 3D modeling is recommended, but not required.
