About this event

  • 1 hour

With the ever rising needs of students and requirements from state agencies it is essential to have a multidisciplinary team (school counselors, school social workers, school psychologist, administration and teachers) that collaborates at high levels for student success. School Counselors no longer can be seen as the sole provider for academic, mental health and behavioral support for students. It is important for district and school leaders to understand the importance of each student service role and the responsibilities they can support at each level.

What to Expect:

During this session we’ll hear from four district leaders who guide, support, and monitor school counseling and mental health teams. Each leader will share how their school district has identified gaps in the comprehensive approach to student wellbeing and built upon expertise within school staff to meet the needs. In addition, attendees will learn about partnerships outside of the school district that have provided a community approach for supporting the needs of students and families. Attendees will walk away with an expanded view of the comprehensive school counseling model and tangible tools to support building a comprehensive student wellbeing team.

Presenters:

Christy Berger, Director of School Counseling and Mental Health, Center Grove Community School Corporation

Brooke Lawson, Director of Mental Health, Carmel Clay Schools

Kyle Miller, Director of Student Support & Counseling Services, Westfield Washington Schools

Terri Miller, Assistant Director, Hamilton Boone Madison Special Services
