About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

***This 90-minute program consolidates most of the 2 hours of Medicare content in Part 2 (Medicare Basics) and Part 3 (Group-to-Medicare) of the HR Essentials Series into a single session.

For older employees approaching retirement, healthcare benefits are a high priority... and often a source of considerable stress. Beginning at age 65, understanding their healthcare options requires not only understanding Medicare- but also how it interacts with Group Health Plans.

This popular benefits-related presentation provides a practical, yet comprehensive, 90-minute overview of Medicare and the key issues age 65+ employees must understand when their Group Health Plan encounters Medicare-Eligibility.

This webinar includes the following content...

• Understanding Medicare's Dual Option Format (Original vs Advantage)

• Medicare Premiums, including the High-Income 'IRMAA' Surcharge

• Navigating the Enrollment Process

• The 4 Group-to-Medicare Pathways for Employees Age 65+

• Areas of Caution, Including how Medicare Impacts COBRA and HSAs.

This benefits-related content is designed for HR professionals of all disciplines and experience levels who want to increase their understanding of the uniquely challenging- and highly consequential- issues that arise for older employees when they arrive at the crossroads of Group Health Plan coverage and Medicare.

Learning Objectives

1. Acquire a solid knowledge base regarding the fundamental structure of Medicare coverage and its enrollment process.

2. Understanding the specific factors age 65+ employees need to consider as they evaluate both Medicare and group health plan options.

3. Develop skills needed to help age 65+ Medicare-Eligible employees understand the complex eligibility and enrollment issue they often must navigate, thus becoming a more effective 'frontline' benefits resource.

This webinar is delivered in a lecture-style format and has an attendance limit of 20 to ensure an optimal learning experience for all participants. An interactive Q & A segment is included prior to the end of the session.

A recording of the webinar is made available the following day and is accessible for 30-days to all registrants. This program offers 1.5 SHRM, HRCI, and World at Work re-certification credit. To receive credit, attendance for the entire live webinar is required.

Upon completion of the registration process, participants will receive a Zoom link to the webinar, along with a PDF Guidebook that accompanies the presentation.

Organized by

The Turning 65 Workshop provides Social Security & Medicare virtual learning programs designed specifically for the workplace. It was created in 2016 by Thomas Wright, a former financial advisor who specialized in employee benefits for more than 30 years. Tom saw first-hand how both older employees and HR professionals often struggled to understand and navigate the filing decisions required by these foundational American retirement programs.

In addition to 'consumer-leve'l presentations for older employees, we conduct a variety of educational webinars on topics of interest to HR professionals. These programs cover essential, high-priority information that's always delivered in an engaging and easily understandable format!

As an Approved Provider for SHRM, HRCI, and World at Work, our programs are pre-approved by these HR organizations for recertification credit. (Note: Credit awarded for participation in live webinar sessions only, not for viewing a webinar recording.)

"The webinar was amazingly helpful. If you have older employees struggling to understand Medicare or Social Security this contnet will be invaluable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"
