About this event

  • 6 hours

Join us on the continuation of our journey with Compost Mentis to create an accessible compost toilet for the Long Wall Ecology Garden.

We began this journey back at the beginnning of 2023, gathering for a series of workshops to imagine what our dream toilet could be, learn about the current sewage systems in place, unpick our thoughts and feelings about pollution, contamination, 'waste' and the ways we process it, think through ecosystem survival and renewal together, and create objects for the toilet with local clay.

We'll be working with some of these ideas to create a sturdy temporary toilet on site for our events over the coming year, whilst we wait for our dream toilet design to go through the planning process.

On the day there'll be plenty to do for all skill levels, digging, plotting, carpentry, processing materials and lots more.

The Long Wall Ecology Garden is a garden that practices and promotes careful stewardship of the environment, a place that provides us with the opportunity to play an active part in caring for the river and its surrounds. The garden is a place for workshops, gathering, learning and co-creation, a place to observe the systems present, and co-design useful inititaives and interventions to enhance the biodiversity and build resilience, balancing the needs of all species.
