KarenAndersonserves as the NELA-DST Continuing Professional Development Coordinator. Karenis a proud NC Teaching Fellow and a graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She successfully completed the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy and earned a Master of School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Most recently she received her Educational Specialist (Ed.S) program from Appalachian State University specializing in leading and promoting high-quality student achievement. Her experiences as a teacher, curriculum facilitator, assistant principal, and principal solidified her desire and passion for joining the NELA team in their pursuit of excellence in education. We will host the following thought partners: 
Dr. Joe Sanfelippo-Dr. Joe Sanfelippo is author of Hacking Leadership. He is the Superintendent of the Fall Creek School District in Fall Creek, WI. The Fall Creek School District was named an Innovative District in 2016 and 2017 by the International Center for Leadership in Education. Joe holds a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from St. Norbert College, a MS in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a MS in Educational Leadership, and a PhD in Leadership, Learning, and Service from Cardinal Stritch University. 
Sean Cain- Sean Cain is the author of The Fundamental 5- The Formula for Quality Instruction. Sean Cain spent the formative years of his career working in difficult instructional settings. Recognized for the success of both his students and the systems he designed and implemented, he quickly moved up through the instructional leadership ranks. This culminated in his last public education position as State Director of Innovative School Redesign (Texas). Currently, Cain serves as the Chief Idea Officer for Lead Your School (LYS), a confederation of successful school leaders dedicated to improving student, campus, and district performance. A passionate speaker, Cain is a sought-after national presenter and trains educators in schools and districts across the county. The primary foci of Cain’s current research and fieldwork are making complex problems solvable and the translation of theory into systematic practice.
Melvin Diggs- (Previous Statewide Consultant, NC Department of Public Instruction, Raleigh, NC) Mr. Diggs is an experienced educator who will provide recent EC procedures/law updates for school administrators. 
Candace Epps Jackson- (Owner and Counselor of Thomasville Counseling, Consulting, & Coaching, Thomasville, NC) Mrs. Jackson is an experienced educator and counselor who will present on the importance of self-care and balance for school administrators.
Additional Breakout Sessions will be offered to provide insight on fundamental and critical practices that are at the core of highly effective instruction.
