Community Workshop with Third Coast Percussion

The Modlin Center for the Artspresents more than 40 world-class performing arts events as part of the Modlin Arts Presents Series, five productions presented by theDepartment of Theatre and Danceand the University Players and Dancers, and music performances as part of theDepartment of Music'sannual free concert series. Many of the events presented at theModlin Centerfeature an academic component designed specifically for Richmond students. These activities, which are free and open to the public, include master classes and lecture demonstrations, as well as pre-concert and exhibition lectures.

Join Modlin Center and Gallery5 for a free community percussion workshop led by the Grammy Award-winning Third Coast Percussion.

This interactive drumming workshop will explore specific rhythm patterns, improvisation, and ways to make music as a collaborative ensemble. No music experience is necessary, and all experience levels are welcome. Bring your own drum. A limited supply of instruments will be made available. Arrive at 6:00 pm to enjoy a reception and interact with the musicians. The workshop will take place from 6:30-7:30 pm. Free admission; register in advance to guarantee your spot with walk-ups accommodated on a space available basis. Paid parking is available at the City Parking Deck at 2nd St. and Marshall St.-﻿-﻿<a href="https://thirdcoastpercussion.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Third Coast Percussion</a> (Sean Connors, Robert Dillon, Peter Martin, and David Skidmore) has forged a unique path in the musical landscape with virtuosic, energetic performances that celebrate the extraordinary depth and breadth of musical possibilities in the world of percussion.
