Event description

Description

Tips for Coaches, Scouting Leaders, and other Adult Volunteers.
We will discuss the differences between bullying and other forms of peer harassment and suggest methods that adults can use to help. We will also talk about the importance of creating a welcoming and safe environment for everyone.
Parents, high school students, scout and youth group leaders, service group leaders, coaches, and civic and religious leaders are welcome to come and share their insights.
The interactive workshop is based on a presentation developed by the Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We will discuss the differences between bullying and harassment and the prevalence and consequences of bullying. Suggestions will be offered for responding to bullying behaviors and how to be proactive. Attendees will learn the signs of a child who is being targeted and how to help them, how you can help the aggressor change their behavior, and how you can help change bystanders into upstanders. Finally, the workshop will include ideas for creating a welcoming and safe environment.
There will be an opportunity for discussion after the PowerPoint presentation.
