About this event

  • 2 hours

The City of Alameda and The Design Team are kicking off a community workshop series for the new pool project. two workshops will advance the community’s vision through the conceptual design process. By the final workshop we will have gathered the consensus needed for a preferred concept. The workshops will be held in person at the Albert. H. Dewitt Officers' Club (O'Club).

The Design Team and City Staff will share the program direction for a 2-pool concept and share the reasons behind the elimination of a 50m pool concept. The presentation will discuss reasons for advancing the two-pool concept and present several successful precedents throughout the Bay Area and California. Information will be collected from the audience as to which features, and programming options are seen as most important for a two-pool aquatic center. Additionally, The Design Team will unveil two to three concept ideas for a two-pool aquatic center and seek input from attendees in a charette/workshop setting. The Design Team and workshop attendees will collaborate to narrow the design concepts to a preferred concept for further refinement and presentation at Workshop #2.

For those not in attendance, people can vote online for a preferred option and offer any additional thoughts through the online survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AlamedaAquaticCenterWorkshop1
The survey will open at the end of the in-person workshop and will remain open until Monday evening, May 20th at 7pm.

The information presented at Workshop #1 will be available online through the City’s website: https://www.alamedaca.gov/Departments/Recreation-Parks/City-Aquatic-Center-Concept-Design-Development
