Second Home Hollywood features a restaurant, La Despensa, along with a branch of Second Home's acclaimed bookshop Libreria. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 129 -10.30am: <a href="https://pandopopulus.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">PANDO POPULUS</a> (Free) An initiative radically committed to bringing LA’s neighborhoods, networks and resources together to create a more environmentally conscious, economically secure and socially just future. Join some of Los Angeles County’s most creative writers, designers, scientists and thinkers for an opportunity to discuss the sustainability issues you feel strongest about, and develop ideas for California’s resilient future.11:30am - 1pm: <a href="https://getlit.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">GET LIT</a> (Free)Get Lit are a youth-based program that uses poetry to increase literacy, empower youth and inspire communities.An inspiring group of young poets will be performing spoken word pieces, showcasing their love letters to LA.2.30 - 5pm: <a href="https://freedomandfashion.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">FREEDOM AND FASHION</a> (Charity Donation)Freedom &amp; Fashion use job training and coaching in the arts of fashion and beauty to empower youth overcoming trafficking, homelessness, and other injustices.Join our Freedom &amp; Fashion survivors as we come together during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to celebrate their courage and strength. This event is 100% inspired by their students with special performances, story-telling, fashion, food and the opportunity to creatively interact with their students.SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1310am - 12pm: <a href="https://www.timeout.com/los-angeles/things-to-do/second-home-serpentine-pavilion-community-marathon-contest" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a><a href="https://assistanceleaguela.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">ASSISTANCE LEAGUE LA </a> (Free)Join us for a unique opportunity for local families to give back to children in need by making no-sew blankets that will be given to foster youth served by our Foster Children’s Resource Center (FCRC)*. All ages of volunteers are welcome and encouraged to attend this FREE event, including parents with infants!*About FCRC: Foster children are frequently moved from one home to another during a crisis with only the clothes on their backs. FCRC provides emergency clothing and necessities to children referred by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Located in Northridge, our center gives each child new school clothing, a jacket, pajamas, socks, underwear, personal care items, a backpack, school supplies, a book, and a toy. Each child is given personal attention and treated with dignity and respect, helping them to feel special. Social workers, foster parents and family members report that after visiting the Center, children experience a boost in self-esteem and improved school attendance and performance. Click <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxwLgiwX1js&amp;feature=youtu.be" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a> for a video about FCRC.1-2pm: <a href="https://covenanthousecalifornia.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">COVENANT HOUSE</a> (Free)A non-profit youth homeless shelter that provides sanctuary and support for homeless and trafficked youth, ages 18-24.The Covenant House California Band aka CHC Band will be performing and showcasing some of the songs they’ve worked on as part of Covenant House California’s onsite music program3-5pm: <a href="http://www.infiniteflowdance.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">INFINITE FLOW</a> (Charity Donation)An Inclusive Dance Company composed of dancers with and without disabilities breaking stereotypes, using dance as a catalyst to inspire inclusion and innovation.Join us for a colorful dance performance by Infinite Flow's professional dancers with and without disabilities, followed by an #InfiniteInclusion Dance Party. This will be a mega celebration of diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, gathering people of all abilities, all walks of life, LGBTQ, other minority groups, as well as everyday people. Proceeds will benefit Infinite Flow's school assembly initiative.
