Community Grief Circle – Waking up Embodied Pleasure and Play
Date: 6/8/2025
Time: 3:45-6pm
Location: Aftermath Agency
Join us for a special grief circle in June, focused on simple ways to access pleasure and play through embodied practice. Kim Varner and Katie Stickney Watson, LMHC will co-facilitate this circle that will include singing, reflection, sharing, and exercises to bring in pleasure and get in touch with our playful side.
How is pleasure and play tied to grief work? We carry grief with us every day: grief over lost loved ones or pets, major life transitions, diagnosis, parts of ourselves that hold shame or guilt, world events, climate changes, and cultural loss to name a few forms. When we allow ourselves to feel and be seen in our grief, it also allows us to access more of the full spectrum of our feelings including joy, pleasure, and accessing play.
This community space is inspired by the work of Frances Weller (Book the Wild Edge of Sorrow), and from the community grief rituals hosted by many in the Puget Sound Area including Sacred Groves, Laurence Cole, Mary Hart, Northwest Grief Tending (Siena Tenisci), Ahlay Blakely, Peter Jabin, and their teachers including Sobonfu and Malidoma Some.
Pay what you are able - suggested donation of $25-40, but no one turned away for lack of funds
