About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Community Gatherings serve as a place for our members (and our wider network) to connect with each other, learn about the state of the environment here in Pennsylvania, receive updates on our work, and meet in regional cohorts. Join us from 7PM-8:30PM. We will have an hour of programming followed by 30 minutes for regional breakouts moderated by PA IPL team members.

In July’s regional gathering we will be discussing the unique challenges of various generations facing the climate crisis, and imagining an intergenerational approach to the climate crisis. Lydia Wylie-Kellermann will ground us in a conversation about the gifts of intergenerational work amidst the climate crisis. In her new book This Sweet Earth: Walking with Our Children in the Age of Climate Collapse, she dares to argue that while the future remains unknown, there is still awe and wonder, love and struggle, gratitude and overwhelming joy to be found.  This will be a time for honoring our elders and our children and sharing stories about the ways we stumble upon hope when we do this work together across generations.

Attendance for the regional breakouts is optional – it is designed to provide a time for connection, sharing, and updates. A staff member will be present in each room. This is also a great opportunity for our congregational members to share about upcoming events or things in planning, ask staff for advice or resources, and more. The regional breakouts for April are: SouthWest PA, SouthEast PA, NorthEast PA, + Central PA (folks from anywhere else are welcomed to join SouthEast PA).

    Organized by

Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light inspires and mobilizes people of faith and conscience to take bold and just action on climate change. Through environmental education, sustained advocacy, creation care, and direct actions PA IPL strives to promote stewardship, creation care, and the use of clean, renewable energy. We see climate change as a moral issue, one that demands a response from people of faith. We work to protect the earth’s ecosystems, safeguard the health of all Creation, and ensure sufficient, sustainable energy for all. We have a track record of tangible results: shrinking congregations’ carbon footprints and educating people of faith about the important role they have to play in this challenging issue.
