Community Drug Checking Workshop

The Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs) on Opioids and Overdose, based at the Rhode Island Hospital, is the first center of its kind aimed to collaboratively address the opioid epidemic. This COBRE is a vibrant, interdisciplinary center that supports research essential to understanding the mechanisms underlying opioid use disorder and developing innovative solutions. A main objective of the NIH-Funded COBRE initiative is to support the develop junior investigators into independently funded investigators, and to develop a critical mass of investigators competitive for peer-reviewed external research funding. The COBRE on Opioids and Overdose brings together an exceptional group of accomplished senior scientists, promising junior investigators, and distinguished collaborators, as well as policymakers, public health officials, community-based organizations dedicated to developing policies and practices to curb the opioid epidemic that is destroying the lives of so many of our community members.This event is supported by the COBRE on Opioids and Overdose funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the NIH under grant number P20GM125507.
