Community Discernment Process - Session 2: What Do We Believe?

By WildSeed Society
Online event
May 17, 2022 to May 18, 2022
Overview

Join us as we dive deeper into the spiritual and philosophical beliefs that guide our personal lives and our work as a collective.

Please still RSVP if you want to attend but can't make the live session. We'll send you the video recordings later.

WHO: This online event is for people who want to faithfully witness, lovingly question and compassionately challenge WildSeed Society - as we discern what kind of community we want to build around our vision.

WHAT: This is part of a series of online fish bowls from the Sacred Warren, who are the team stewarding the vision of the WildSeed Society.

Together, they will serve as a public formation process in which we try to come into alignment about the beliefs and practices that we want to be the foundation of the community we would like to steward together.

At this second session we will focus on the personal and collective beliefs that animate our work. Attendees will learn more about the WildSeed Society’s Philosophy, our Vision and The WildSeed Way.

WHY: We fundamentally believe that the crisis we face as a global society are just political or economic. They are rooted in a worldview and philosophy that never served all of humanity, let alone all life.

Our solutions need to based on a new philosophy and vision for who we might be together. Yet, as a collective, we haven’t quite figured out what that philosophy and vision are.

Rather than pretending we have it all figured out, we want to invite our emerging community to witness us build them intentionally.

To learn more about our thinking, please read this blog post called "How We’re Re-Thinking Spiritual Community - To Navigate These Crisis and for Our Collective Liberation."

THE SERIES

We believe that true vocational work exists at the intersection of what our jam is (what we really love to do), what we are uniquely good at doing, what our community needs and what our community has capacity to sustain. We also believe that communities can’t be designed or organized from a top down approach, but rather they need to arise organically over time.

Thus, we want to explore these central vocational questions in a way that would allow potential community members to discern if WildSeed Society is a community they might want to be a part of, and for us, to better understand which gifts our community is most interested in receiving from us.

Throughout the series, the WildSeed Society’s Sacred Warren will explore:

  • Session 1 (May 5th): Who are we?
  • Session 2 (May 17th): What do we believe? (RSVP in this EventBrite)
  • Session 3 (May 26th): How do we turn our jam into an infinite game?
  • Session 4 (June 2nd) : What do we think our existing communities need?
  • Session 5 (June 7th): What offerings does our emerging WildSeed community have the capacity to support?"

You can RSVP for the other sessions here - Sessions 1, Session 3, Session 4, and Session 5.

After we host the session, you'll be able to watch the video recordings here.

WILDSEED SOCIETY:

The WildSeed Society is a political, spiritual and economic community that is inviting people to build a 21st century Underground Railroad together. We are building a series of refuges from the current exploitative world to new worlds where we all get to belong and be cared for—by focusing on Spiritual Liberation, Social Transformation and Economic Revolution. We seek to experiment and prototype our way into a new way of life—in community and in right relationship with the land.

The WildSeed Society is stewarded by a collective of movement veterans, spiritual teachers, and organizational development nerds. Many of the instigators of the collective were involved in the Black Lives Matter movement before starting WildSeed. It is inspired by the vision of futurist Octavia Butler, of gifted misfits finding community together before transforming the world.
