Community Creation Day

The mission of the Community Art Center is to provide opportunities that use art as a vehicle of creative self-development and community revitalization. It is our hope that through the creative process, our students are able to envision a positive future for themselves and gain the tools necessary to build a pathway to that future.

ACPPA Community Art Center

This summer ACPPA Community Art Center is partnering with Norristown Education Theater to produce the original play, <STRONG STYLE="border: 0px none; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Asian Cinderella: The Story of Pear Blossom. Gene Frank, artistic director of NET, wrote the play as an adaptation to the many Asian Cinderella stories that predate the Disney version by more than 1,000 years. While each story tells the tale of beautiful young girl who is horribly mistreated by her step mother, the story told through the various cultural references helps us to better learn the history of the country of origin. 
 
We are thrilled that our Summer ARTS Intensive students will premier this production at the end of July and even more excited to share the creation with the larger community! On <STRONG STYLE="border: 0px none; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Saturday, March 28th and Saturday, April 18th, ACPPA will be hosting <STRONG STYLE="border: 0px none; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Community Creation Days. From <STRONG STYLE="border: 0px none; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">11am until 1pm, we invite all to join us in exploring the cultural imagery of the play through the creation of props, backgrounds, and costumes. Students from Cabrini and Bryn Mawr College will be on hand to help lead the many activities such a origami folding, dragon mask decorating, papier mache koi, and of course, a large dancing dragon.
