Community Conversations Session 1

Community Conversations

You are invited to participate in a series of interactive discussions to address the issues regarding implicit bias and racism that exist in our school system. These conversations will be guided by the restorative justice model as we dare to hear those who have experienced discrimination, learn from these situations and seek to find solutions
Week 1:  Introduction (March 21st)
                  *State the purpose of our gatherings
                  * Have a panel discussion to illustrate the problem and need for the meeting
                  * Explain and model a Restorative Justice conversation
Week 2: Restorative Justice Conversation (March 28)
                  * Brief re-cap of the principles of restorative justice 
                  * Game Day! Break off into small groups of facilitated/guided conversation.
                  * "Pulse check" (a quick debrief)
Week 3: Where do we go from here? (April 4)
                  * What did we learn the week before?
                  * What can we do to make sure that discrimination in our schools becomes a thing of the past!
