Communication Presentation
Overview
Please come and register at the venue by 9-9.15am.
You will need to buy your own refreshments from the bar, but we will provide water and biscuits in the conference room.
The talk from the Family Action team will begin at 9.30am prompt.
They plan to talk briefly about what they can offer to parents in terms of courses, workshops and drop ins etc and how they can access their service.
The main presentation will be around communication differences and difficulties, strategies for communicating more effectively and moving on to demand avoidance/anxiety and taking a low demand approach.
We will leave time at the end for Q & A.
This is aimed at anyone supporting a neurodivergent child (up to adulthood).
There will be a break and we will then have a presentation from Claire Pooley, a specialist in Signalong. Signalong is a key word sign-supported communication system based on British Sign Language and is used in spoken word order. It uses speech, sign, body language, facial expression and voice tone to reference the link between sign and word.
We will finish by 1pm.
Donation of £5 requested if possible please.
