Comms Unplugged 2017 - an event like no other

Your invitation to get involved in the most exciting industry event of 2017

Comms Unplugged might just be the industry event of the year. A comms person's retreat and opportunity to connect and develop in a unique setting. Chat, listen and learn away from email, wifi and tech. With live music, food and an overnighter in a beautiful campsite in Dorset.

From inspirational speakers to live music, amazing local food to guided woodland walks, and wellbeing activities, Comms Unplugged is an event like no other. We’d argue it’s more experience than event. Attendees will have the chance to camp out under the stars, book into a swish woodside chalet or simply buy a day ticket. There’s something for everyone.

Comms Unplugged is important because…

Comms and PR has emerged in UK research as one of the most stressed industries to work in. We take on a lot and we deliver a lot but it can take its toll in a range of often hidden ways. Taking some quality learning and development time out to re-energise offers a bundle of health and well-being benefits. But it could also spark a fresh new approach to your work and career.

Where and when?

Comms Unplugged takes place at the amazing Burnbake site in a secluded woodland location on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset. The event will run from 15 to 16 September. And if you would like to land there to set up on Thursday 14 you'd be very welcome. You can either self cater that night or indulge in one of the many great local pubs.

The programme will feature inspirational speakers and leading communicators. Attendees will be able to choose the sessions which appeal most. There will also be a choice of workshops, wellbeing activities, live music and even a guided woodland trail. Food will be provided and prepared on-site by some amazing local suppliers – think flame-fired pizza and paella.

You can read more about the Comms Unplugged line-up here.

Comms Unplugged is a not for profit event and we have priced it to make it as accessible as possible for everyone. We have made it slightly cheaper for the public sector - we hope you understand - to make it as accessible as possible (Please note - agencies, consultants and freelancers should book the private sector tickets) Should it turn a profit we will make donations to Dorset Mind and Dorset Wildlife Trust, put additional funding into our entertainment and catering budget to make the event a truly brilliant experience, and invest any remaining funds into Comms Unplugged 2018.

What do I get for my money?

Not only could Comms UnPlugged be the comms professionals’ event of the year, we think the ticket prices and options define it as the most cost-effective one too. Here’s why...

Everyone gets...

Whether you’re joining us on Thursday evening for the whole two-night shebang, Friday morning for a day and night getaway, or on a cheeky day ticket, your booking includes a full day of what promises to be a truly different and compelling line up. Friday features an inspiring professional development agenda plus a heap of wellbeing options which, combined, will motivate, excite, relax and energise you. Tasty, open-air lunch is a given.

Friday overnighters also get...

If you’re overnighting Friday, be entertained with evening acoustic sets round the camp fires and woken up with the option of a brisk (or leisurely - your choice!) walk in the Dorset countryside on Saturday morning - after your freshly-cooked bacon or veggie bap, of course!

Thursday overnighters also get...

All of the above, plus Friday brekky.

In short, from just £109 for public sector people you’ll get, 2 nights camping accommodation, a day and a half of professional development and wellbeing, in a unique environment, with four meals. Still not booked - what are you waiting for?

Eating in the fresh air somehow makes everything tastes just that little bit better, don’t you think? At Comms Unplugged, we have found some fab local caterers to prepare and serve tasty food to our lovely delegates, out in the open (we hope - marquees provide a back-up plan)

With bacon or veggie baps for breakfast, filled rolls for lunch and a selection of both wood-fired pizzas and site-cooked paella on offer for dinner, the Comms Unplugged culinary offer promises to be a treat.

On Friday night, choose from a mobile bar on-site (we’ll arrange it, you’ll need to pay for what you have) or bring your own tipple. Either way, there'll be no over-priced conference hotel bar charging you £8.50 for a small glass of pinot :-)

If you are an agency, communications consultancy or a supplier of services and keen to partner with Comms Unplugged please contact us at nosignal@commsunplugged.co.uk to discuss how you can be involved and on the packages available.
