Welcome to Commonwealth Connect! The event is a student welcome event aimed at any student in Birmingham and the Greater Birmingham area wanting to know more about the Commonwealth and those new to the city from the Commonwealth. Join us at Birmingham City Council for a day of networking, learning, and collaboration. The event organised by Birmingham Commonwealth Association, is an in-person event and is the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded individuals from various Commonwealth countries, including the UK. On the day you will not only be able to visit various stalls with information about the Commonwealth but also stalls providing various personal and practical services. These will include health, jobs, volunteering, travel and accommodation. The day will also be a celebration of the Commonwealth with food and entertainment. • 12.00pm – Doors open to the delegates and networking • 1.00pm – Birmingham Commonwealth Association welcome • 1.10pm – Lord Mayor’s welcome (Councillor Zafar Iqbal) • 1.20pm - West Midlands Combined Authority (TBC) • 1.30pm – Panel interview(representatives from Aston University, University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, Newman University) – My time in the city (lived experience and advice to their fellow Commonwealth Students). • 2.00pm – 5.00 – Food and Refreshments, networking, stalls/Marketplace , competition/ and prize draw, music and dance performances • 5.00pm finish
