The Museum is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of computer history, and is home to the largest international collection of computing artifacts in the world, including computer hardware, software, documentation, ephemera, photographs and moving images.About SIGCISOrganizer  of Command Lines: Software, Power and PerformanceFounded in the mid-1980s, SIGCIS is the leading international group for historians with an interest in the history of information technology and its applications. Our annual lunch meeting takes place as part of the annual meeting of the Society for the History of Technology, and can be registered for as part of the SHOT registration. We present the Computer History Museum Prize, for an outstanding book on the history of computing, at this meeting. What is Command Lines? Command Lines: Software, Power, and Performance is a meeting that will draw together scholars from a variety of fields that study software. These fields include: the history of computing; science and technology studies; software studies; code studies; game studies; media studies; the study of women, gender and sexuality; studies of race, ethnicity and postcoloniality; and computer science and engineering. Command Lines is collaboratively organized by <A HREF="http://www.sigcis.org" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">SIGCIS </A>(Special Interest Group for Computing, Information and Society) and the <A HREF="http://www.computerhistory.org/softwarehistory" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Computer History Museum</A>.  The meeting will explore how software relates to social and technical constructs of power and performance. Attendees will discuss why connections between the creation and use of software are integral to understanding social and technical power in multiple senses.
