CURRENT:LA FOODpresents new, temporary public art projects by 15 national and international artists and teams of artists who have taken on the global issue of food to highlight and encourage the discussion of topics such as: eliminating food deserts, supporting urban agriculture, improving food distribution systems, and strengthening food equity.Commissioning art installations, performances, and events in public parks,CURRENT:LA FOODaims to engage visitors in discussions about topics and issues that affect Los Angeles residents as well as the broader global community through the context of art and artmaking.

ABOUT THE ART EVENT
Presented by CURRENT artist Eva Aguila and Coaxial Arts Foundation, this all-ages event features the installation of an outdoor earthen oven based on a Mexican comal and a video screening to celebrate cultural diversity through honoring utensil-less cuisines around the world. Celebrate a shared human and global food experience: eating with hands. 
Co-curated with Arshia Fatima Haq, the evening will include a video screening of experimental and documentary short videos by artists Omolara Abode, Zeina Baltagi, Ciriza, Maria Maea, Anna Luisa Petrisko, Sindhu Thirumalaisamy, and by Echo Park Film Center youth students. Comal fabricated by JEM and Bob Dornberger.
Comal activation at 5:00 p.m.; video screenings at 7:30 p.m. RSVP appreciated.
There will be limited chairs available for the screening, please feel free to bring a picnic blanket for the event.

Parking within the park is accessed off Victory Blvd. Please consider taking public transit, carpooling, or ridesharing when possible.

All artworks are outside! Please dress appropriately, bring shade or sunscreen, a bottle of water, and comfortable shoes.
