COMET is a free, short, two-hour program that teaches simple tools to help improve mental health wellness

Northland Community & Technical College

This COMET Training is presented by the University of Minnesota Extention, Inter-County Community Council, and Community Strong - Pennington County in Room 201 at Northland Community Technical College. First classroom when coming in from the West parking lot. The training has two separate time slots for sessions to accomodate different schedules. This FREE 2-hour interactive training teaches participants how to reach out in a meaningful, respectful, and supportive way to friends, coworkers, or acquaintances who seem to be struggling somewhere on the continuum between “wellness” and “mental health crisis.” Often, we want to support our friends, neighbors and colleagues in times of need but may not know how. This training doesn’t expect community members to “fix it,” but instead trains people to feel comfortable initiating a supportive and potentially emotional conversation. COMET was developed by the High Plains Research Network in eastern Colorado and is offered in Minnesota by a partnership among the University of Minnesota Extension, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Minnesota Department of Health.Supported in part by the Farm &amp; Ranch Stress Assistance Network Program, USDA Award #2020-70028-32728
