    Join volunteer and land steward Brian for a walking stick whittling workshop along the Eno! Learn about stewardship and natural resource management while collecting saplings to create a hand-carved walking stick to take home. Bring a pocketknife, a chair, water and something to snack on while you learn the basics of wood whittling with Brian on a peaceful Saturday morning at the Confluence Natural Area in Hillsborough.

    Suggested ages 12 and up. Limited to 15 participants, masks recommended but not required. Social distancing of at least 6 feet is required. $15 for the general public, $9 for Eno River Association members and children under 18.

    Accessibility information: This program takes place in a covered pavilion which can be accessed from the parking lot via a sidewalk. Pit toilet restrooms are available and can be accessed by a sidewalk. The program may involve a short hike as time allows, but participants with mobility concerns are welcome to stay in the pavilion during this portion of the program.

    Directions: Meet at the pavilion beside the parking lot. The address is 4214 Highland Farm Rd, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

    From Hillsborough take Hwy 86 North away from town 1.6 miles from US70. Turn left on Coleman Loop 1.1 miles. Turn left on Highland Farm Rd 2.4 miles. The Confluence is on the left. There is a large sign and a gravel driveway.

    From northern Orange County take Hwy 86 south after passing Walnut Grove Church Rd take the first right on Kenion Rd 1.7 miles. Turn right on Highland Farm Rd 0.6 miles. The Confluence is on the left. There is a large sign and a gravel driveway.
