Join No Divide KC and Lyric Opera of Kansas City for Come As You Are. This free event is designed to break down barriers of access in the concert space. Our third annual artistic extravaganza will feature the world premiere of three micro-operas, engaging activity stations, and joyful fellowship. It's a family-friendly celebration you won't want to miss!

New this year, a fellowship program was launched in which three emerging composer and librettist pairs were selected to write, workshop, and premiere three bite-sized operas exploring themes of vulnerability.

Kansas City-based creatives comprise the performing resources for Come As You Are. They will perform the three micro-operas and additional music by James Devor, Sean Pflueger, Clint Borzoni, and Jamey Guzman.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I park?

Free parking is available in Lyric Opera's lot at the northwest corner of Charlotte and 18th. Parking attendants will be there to assist you, and there are designated accessible spots. Overflow parking is available on nearby streets and in Goodwill's lot.

Is the venue ADA accessible?

Yes. There is a ramp available at the front door.

Are tickets required?

This event is free. Tickets are not required, but we do encourage you to RSVP using the link above—we will use your contact information only to keep you apprised of future Lyric Opera and No Divide KC programming. We will invite you to check in with your name at the welcome desk.

What is the recommended age?

This event is designed for all ages. While we do not have a minimum age requirement, we invite parents and guardians to review the content of the program as described above. The performance is relaxed with a variety of seating options, coloring, games, and dance scarves.

Will there be concessions available?

No. You are welcome to bring water bottles and there is a water fountain in the building.

Can I take photos or videos?

You may take photos. We kindly ask that you do not take videos of the performances.

What should I wear?

You are welcome to "come as you are" and wear whatever you feel comfortable in!

What will the activity stations look like?

Available activity stations for all ages will include journaling and discussion prompts, coloring, free drawing, dance scarves, and board games.

What language are the operas in?

The music is sung mostly in English. There will be English captions displayed on TV screens on both sides of the stage.

What time should I arrive?

The doors will open at 3:45 pm. We advise you to arrive a few minutes early to allow time for parking. You are welcome to come and go during the program.
