For over four decades, Tom has provided firearms training to security staff, military personnel, law enforcement officers, and every day citizens with a focus on personal defense.After a 25-year career in law enforcement and specialized security work, Tom opened his own pistol range in Memphis, TN in 1996.  For 18 years, it was the primary source of handgun carry permit certification for the greater Memphis area.  Soon joined by his wife Lynn, the training duo formed Rangemaster Firearms Training Services to share their expertise with a much broader audience.  They now travel across the country and around the world to arm responsible citizens with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively protect themselves and their families.Tom is certified as a law enforcement firearms instructor by the NRA, the FBI, and the state of Tennessee, and he serves as an expert witness all over the US in cases involving firearms and firearms training. He holds a Master rating in three IDPA Divisions (CDP, ESP and SSP) and has won several state and regional championships. Tom has written well over 100 published magazine articles in SWAT Magazine, Combat Handguns, The American Handgunner and other publications.

Combative Pistol, Two-Day
Saturday-Sunday, 9am-6pm
This is an intensive weekend course that covers all of the essential skills involved in fighting with a handgun. There is an all day session Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am to 6:00pm.
Topics covered in this course will include:

<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Precision shooting at mid-ranges</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Shooting effectively with one hand, with either hand</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Fixing malfunctions rapidly and reliably</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Proper defensive mindset, personal tactics, and more.</LI>

Expect to fire about 800-1,000 rounds of ammunition. This course is designed expressly for the armed citizen who carries a concealed handgun, or the plain clothes or off duty police officer. 
You will need a good handgun, holster, belt, and magazine pouch, at least three magazines, a ball cap and concealment garment (vest, jacket, windbreaker, etc), eye and ear protection, and rain gear (we train rain or shine). A cooler with soft drinks, water, snacks and lunch will be needed, for lunch on site.
You will need a quality handgun and gear. It is a good idea to bring a second gun just like your primary, in case something breaks on your primary gun. Please bring good quality ammunition. You will shoot better, your gun will function better, and you will learn faster. Leather or kydex holsters are fine—PLEASE NO flimsy nylon or cloth holsters. AIWB carry is allowed. Serpa holsters are allowed, but strongly discouraged.
Your primary instructor will be Tom Givens, of Rangemaster, assisted by other Rangemaster certified firearms instructors.  Tuition is $495.00.

Class Cancellation Policy

The only way we can know that a class is full is when the specified number of students have registered and paid their tuition fees. Once a class is full, we have to turn away others who would like to attend. If you cancel too close to class, or fail to show up for class, you keep someone else from attending and would cost us a student. Please be sure you can attend a class before signing up for it. We believe this policy is fair to you, to other students, and to us.  In order to minimize this, we have strict policies on pre-payment and cancellation.
If a deposit was paid to hold a space, the balance is due in full at least 15 days prior to the class date.  If a student cancels less than 30 days before the class date, there is no refund (either for deposits or for full payments).  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!
