About this event

This free hands-on class covers the fundamentals of color theory, history, and how to mix color. Students will gain an understanding of the science, art, and psychology of color theory by exploring how color creates depth, movement, and hierarchy within a painting. Students will paint their own color wheel, experiment with secondary and tertiary color mixing, create shadows and highlights, and more to learn why certain color combinations create harmony or discord. The suggested age range is 15 years or older. The link to the virtual class and detailed supply list will be sent after completing registration. Basic painting supplies will be necessary if you wish to follow along at home. Paint colors red, yellow, blue, black, and white will be needed. A limited amount of painting supplies will be available at no cost for individuals facing financial, health, or transportation hardship. Class size is limited.
