Itinerary

Day01 : CARTAGENA - SANTA MARTA

Description:

Arrival to Cartagena and get transferred to Santa Marta (4 hrs drive)

This is the arrival day for all participants in Santa Marta (the Colombian Caribbean Site), upon arrival you will check-in at the Hotel located in the heart of the city.

Then you will have a free afternoon to explore the city and its wide beautiful beach on your own pace or just relax and enjoy the sunset from the hotel rooftop.

Day02 : TAYRONA NATIONAL PARK

Description:

This will be a medium scale-hiking day (good training for the Lost City).

Tayrona Park is located at 45 minutes from Santa Marta by car.

The program includes a 2 hours hike to Cabo San Juan ( 6 km / 3.7miles), visit Arrecife, Arenillas, La Piscine and San Juan.

On arrival, you will have time to take pictures and enjoy the beach with some free time.

For the return, you can always get the easy way horse-back ride (USD 15 – one way).

Day03 : LOST CITY TREK - ALFREDO CAMP

Description:

It is time to be ready for one of the most incredible and amazing hikes overall South America, it is a hidden place in the middle of La Sierra Nevada mountain range. This is an exciting hike, where you will visit remote areas surrounded by just primary forest and local communities.

On this day, we will drive you towards El Mamey Village where we will serve lunch and get the energy to start the first hike up to Alfredo ́s Camp Site. It will be 12 km approx. ( 6.5 miles ) upon arrival, you will get your bed (the type of Campsites in this area are very basic – bunk beds with mosquito nets. So get prepared to live this unique experience.

Day04 : LOST CITY TREK - PARAISO CAMP

Description:

We leave from Alfredo’s cabin to Paraíso’s cabin, the closest to the Lost City, is a 14.7- km (9 miles) journey, which will take approximately 8 hours. During the excursion, you will visit the MUTANYI indigenous people, where you can take pictures and interact with the population. Likewise, enjoy the fabulous waters of the BURITACA River. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. The bedrooms for this day will be in beds or hammocks with mosquito net.

Day05 : LOST CITY TREK - WIWA CAMP

Description:

5:00 am starting with breakfast, but you won’t have to pack right away because on this day we will take you to visit the Lost City which is very close from the Campsite, so you only need the hiking gear, camera and more energy to climb over 1200 steps that are guarding this Archeological Complex!!!.

Admire the sacred place and enchanted by the Indian and their ancestors for more than 700 years. You will have time to take the best pictures, usually, in the morning the weather is very good and sunny.

Enjoy a guided tour around many sites at the complex and finally, you will return to the Camp for lunch, packing, shower and start your way back to a Wiwa Camp for the night.

Day06 : LOST CITY TREK - SANTA MARTA

Description:

Today with an early start, a final way back towards El Mamey village (15 Kms. or 10 miles), enjoy lunch before heading back to Santa Marta City for overnight (this day is a great combination between basic to comfort).

Day07 : CARTAGENA CITY TOUR

Description:

This is a fantastic drive from Santa Marta along the coastal Colombian highway admiring the Caribbean Sea all the time. Along the way we will stop at Barranquilla for a snack, and then we will continue towards Cartagena City.

Upon arrival, we will start Cartagena’s Tour, where you will explore with our expert guide the highlights of the city such as; Castillo de San Felipe, Getsemani neighbourhood, the commercial area and the downtown, which still exist since XVI century. Finally, we will arrive at our hotel to enjoy the rest of the afternoon admiring the sunset. Later get ready to learn some salsa moves – Colombian style.
