This is a two part town hall conversation with a focus on the the Black Lives Matter movement and the response of The Dayton Community.

This is a two part town hall conversation. Part one will gather information from the community on alternatives to policing, racism as a public health crisis, Black Lives Matter, and Self care and community care during this ongoing crisis. At the last session we will share what we’ve learned and identify next steps. Join us as well for our second part of this series on July 23, 2020 from 6:30 to 8:00 (additional registration required). Our four topics will include break out focus groups with the following topics:

Alternatives to Policing

  • What would you like to see from the local police?
  • What are some best practices to policing?
  • What do we want the Police to be doing or not doing?
  • What is the difference between de-funding and abolishing the Police?

Racism as a Public Health Issue

  • Speak on Health Disparities, Social Determinants of Health

Black Lives Matter

  • What does it mean to be involved in the BLM movement?
  • How do you feel about the community’s response to the Black Lives Matter movement?
  • How do you support BLM?
  • Do you have any recommendations for how the community could be supporting the movement??
  • What does it mean to have allyship and become an accomplice instead of a by-stander?

Self and community care during ongoing crises

  • How are you dealing with the ongoing mental, emotional, and sometimes physical trauma related to racial injustice?
